Food Intake of Patients with Thyroid Nodules: a Brazilian Food Guides-Based Analysis

Introduction: The thyroid gland has the function of secreting hormones that play an important role in metabolism. Alterations this may bring complications to individuals, among them nodules. prevalence nodules is higher white people, older adults, women, smokers, with accumulated body fat and larger waist circumference. Objective: aim study was compare dietary intake patients benign (BN) malignant (MN) Method: A cross-sectional conducted 62 patients. Dietary assessed using 24-hour recall, according 2006 2014 Guidelines for Brazilian Population. Mean consumption each food group compared between BN MN by Student’s t-test. Results: sample consisted mostly females mean age 43 years old. Based Guide, presented low fruits, vegetables, milk dairy products, high meat. Total caloric (p=0.03) sugars sweets were individuals BN. Considering highest contribution diet from minimally processed foods group. Conclusion: Patients had energy sweets. For all other groups investigated, no significant difference encountered.
